Participants will gain essential knowledge and skills to work effectively in a café team and provide excellent customer experiences.

  • Working in a Café Team: Highlights the significance of effective communication within a café team and the dynamics of great teamwork to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide Service: Explores the art of providing exceptional customer service, including strategies for delivering high-quality service and the methods to exceed customer expectations.
  • Prepare Café for Service: Details the essential steps required to prepare a café for opening, emphasizing the importance of a well-organised and welcoming café environment.
  • Food and Beverage Service: Breaks down the customer service process into various stages, including welcoming customers, the sequence of service, taking and processing orders, and serving and clearing food and drinks.
  • Work Safely: Prioritises safety within the hospitality industry, providing guidance on best practices to ensure the well-being of both staff and customers.
  • Closing Procedures: Addresses the meticulous procedures involved in closing a café, ensuring a proper and efficient end-of-day process.
  • The Tasmanian Visitor Experience: Delves into the unique Tasmanian visitor experience, exploring the activities and attractions that make this region special for tourists.
  • Working Effectively in Hospitality: Focuses on the core skills required in the hospitality industry, with specific attention to café service and the importance of personal presentation in maintaining a professional image.

Course Fee

$50 per person including GST*

*This course fee is subsidised by grant funding from the Tasmanian Government. As part of the funding, the Tasmanian Government require VXT to report on employment outcomes. VXT will reach out to you after the course to gather data on your employment status when you completed the course, and if you were unemployed, did the course help you gain employment.

Enrolment Process

  1. Online: Available by clicking the Enrol Now button next to each course date. The online process will provide three options for payment (invoice, secure credit card or tentative enrolment).
  2. Email: email coures@vxt.org.au with your full name, date of birth, phone number and preferred training date
  3. Telephone: Call the team on 03 6387 7244 to register over the phone.

Enrolment Terms

  1. Payment of course fees (or deposit) is required to confirm enrolment and to hold a position.
  2. Cancellations up to 10 working days before the scheduled date will be accepted without penalty. Cancellations less than 10 working days may be subject to a 100% cancellation fee.
  3. VXT reserves the right to cancel the course 10 working days before the scheduled date if insufficient registrations are received. Any fees paid for cancelled courses will be refunded in full.
